Cycle Counter

Extruded Plastic Profile Enclosure

Initial Situation

PortaNet AG commissioned Miromico AG to develop a LoRaWAN®-compatible wireless sensor of the latest generation for the digital real-time data detection of windows, doors, and gates. Innovative ideas and applications in the IoT field require very specific enclosures, and this order was particularly special for us.

Challenge

Our task was to develop a enclosure for the IoT sensor technology with a maximum height of 3 millimeters. This challenge greatly appealed to us, as we thrive on tackling difficult projects.

What Customers Say About Us

“Phoenix Mecano supported our ideas and special requests, and made the mass production and IoT sensor enclosue a top product. The overall solution was professional, on time, and at a fair price.”

Solution

We developed and tested various ideas – from casting the electronics to snapping them into two half-shells, to sliding them into a closed extruded plastic profile. Since the expected quantities per project can range from small to exceptionally large, our focus was on achieving an economical overall price for the CycleCounter®.

The extremely fast and simple assembly of the electronics with a short lead time was the decisive factor for selecting the variant with a closed plastic profile enclosure and two plug-in end caps. The profile was made using process plastic extrusion.

In addition to mounting the electronics, our assembly process also includes laser marking the back of the enclosure, applying a front foil via digital printing, sealing with end caps, conducting a function test, and assigning the serial number. After that, we pack the final product directly into sales packaging, facilitating PortaNet’s distribution.
