Phoenix Mecano consolidates ELCOM/EMS division with acquisition of Wijdeven Inductive Solutions BV

Stein am Rhein/Kloten, 4 August 2015. The Phoenix Mecano Group, a leading player in the manufacture and sale of technical components for industry, will acquire all shares in Netherlands-based Wijdeven Inductive Solutions BV with effect from 1 August 2015.

Wijdeven Inductive Solutions BV develops and manufactures customised inductive systems such as 50Hz and high-frequency transformers, coils and power supplies. As well as its market leadership position in the Netherlands, the company has also built up an excellent reputation internationally. Sales in 2014 totalled around €7 million. Important applications and end users for its products are found in the medical technology and aerospace industries as well as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning).

With its strong development and production expertise in orthocyclic coil winding as well as coiling with extremely thin wire (16 µm) and thin foil, Wijdeven is well placed to meet the growing demand for ever smaller and more powerful components and sub-assemblies in its target markets. Another of the company's mainstays, with long-term growth potential, are system solutions for transformer and distribution boxes used in hospitals (operating theatres, intensive care units, dialysis centres), including supplementary services such as installation and maintenance.

All of the company's R&D operations, as well as a site for highly specialised products and small-batch production, are based in the Netherlands, while larger series are manufactured at a network of high-tech production facilities in Eastern Europe and  China.

Phoenix Mecano expects to achieve substantial development and production synergies with Hartu, the German specialist in high-frequency chokes within the Power Quality business area (ELCOM/EMS division). In this area, Phoenix Mecano is combining existing expertise with acquisitions of products, technologies and sales channels as part of its realignment of the ELCOM/EMS division.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
