Customised LEAN Workbenches Developed for your Product

Each LEAN assembly workbench individually designed and manufactured to suit the customer's product, following LEAN principles to enhance productivity. The product is assembled in a one-piece flow, which improves efficiency compared to batch production and significantly reduces space requirements.

Together with the customer, the existing assembly process is reviewed to identify MUDAS (waste). In the next step, a tailored concept is developed, and the assembly workbench or assembly line is designed. The focus lies in eliminating previously identified waste, thereby increasing added value. At the same time, ergonomics and targeted workbench lighting are given equal importance.

With our LEAN Live Workshop, we also offer you the opportunity to set up an assembly workbench hands-on. Bring your product and your team to us – one of our LEAN experts will guide you through the process.

Ergonomic Safety and Productivity

The health and safety of your staff is paramount if you are focused on maintaining great productivity and staff retention. Ergonomic industrial workbenches increase productivity by reducing the physical strain on employees. By investing in a strategically designed height-adjustable workbench and appropriate lightning, you can protect the wellbeing of your staff as well as the momentum of production.

Where operators are performing a series of processes for assembly, they are prone to repetitive strain injury and ergonomic challenges. An ergonomically challenged worker is an unproductive worker. Ergonomics in its entirety has been studied at length. But the relationship to productivity is undeniable.

Lean production includes a number of methods to help you achieve shorter lead times, reduce waste and optimise productivity. Our aim is to support customers to achieve greater productivity, improve well-being and reach optimum levels of production.

Single Workbenches – Ergonomic and Efficient for Small Assemblies

Single workbenches are designed and set up so that one employee can efficiently assemble the entire product or a sub-assembly in a one-piece flow. Tools, essential equipment, C-parts, and assembly components are all positioned within easy reach. Larger components or pre-assemblies are supplied directly from the assembly cart, placed within the worker’s reach at the workbench.

Customised turning and holding devices ensure that the employee can work efficiently with both hands. After testing, the assembled product is either packed immediately for transport or placed on an assembly cart for the next production step. Materials are replenished from behind, directly onto the workbench’s shelves.

A SETAGO® Pick by Light system can be integrated to support the employee during assembly. Physically demanding or highly precise tasks can be carried out by a collaborative robot.

U-Shaped Workbenches – One-Piece Flow with Numerous Individual Parts

The employee works centrally, minimising distances. In a U-shaped cell, the entire process is divided into individual work steps, with tools and components for each step easily accessible. The material flow follows the flow principle, with the product "moving" alongside the employee throughout the process. Materials are fed directly into the racks from behind, ensuring the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle is maintained.

Assembly Lines for Multiple Variants and Large Number of Components

In an assembly line, the assembly process is distributed across multiple workbenches and connected via a coordinated material flow system. Depending on the workload, several employees can assemble simultaneously along the line. However, synchronisation of the individual assembly steps must be ensured.

The assembly line can be quickly and easily adapted to different product variants. If a particular variant requires, for example, a test station, press-fit device or soldering station, these can be mounted on mobile trolleys and integrated into the line at the appropriate position. The required assembly materials are docked to the workbenches via trolleys.

Assembly Trolleys for Heavy Products

Assembly trolleys are used along an assembly line when the product is particularly heavy or unwieldy. In such cases, manual handling or transport via roller conveyors is not feasible.

These trolleys are height-adjustable, and the product support can be tilted and rotated, enabling the employee to carry out the assembly process comfortably and ergonomically.

Essential tools are also mounted directly onto the trolley, ensuring they are always readily accessible and positioned correctly. The trolley can either be securely guided along the assembly line or moved freely and fixed in place as needed.
